Team
A small group covering every career stage, from PhD students to faculty.
Current members
Principal Investigator
Fabio Anza
Theoretical physicist who has worked across mathematical, particle, gravitational and statistical physics and quantum information science. After a D.Phil. at Oxford with Vlatko Vedral, he was a Templeton “Power of Information” Fellow at UC Davis, joined the InQubator for Quantum Simulations at the University of Washington, and was a postdoc at the University of Trieste before joining UMBC in 2024.
PhD Student
Cameron Hahn
Cameron is the first student to officially join the Anza Group. His work sits at the interface of the physics of complex quantum systems and the foundations of quantum thermalization.
PhD Student
Claire Gist
Claire will investigate the thermodynamic emergence of smooth spacetime from quantum gravity, exploring how a continuous spacetime description can arise from underlying quantum degrees of freedom.
